Results of the Energy Summit in Washington. D. C.
One of objectives achieved at the Energy Summit in Washington last May 5 has been proposed by Guatemala at the summit, it is that, considering the country's capacity in electricity production, domestic generators can sell power in the region with contracts long term.
Regarding the energy security in the region and lower costs for domestic use, industry and trade, Guatemala showed interest in strengthening "the integration of the Americas."
Also, according to the Guatemalan News Agency (AGN), the Inter-American Development Bank will provide US $ 54.2 million (Q417.88 million) in loans for the implementation of Regional Transmission Network System of Central Electric Interconnection.
